Life often consists of choices, questions, decisions, challenges, progress, and achievement. While it would be ideal to travel through life without the need of any assistance, sometimes the complexity we find ourselves facing can be challenging in an emotional, physical, and/or mental sense. If you decide to join Therapy Austin, my goal is to assist you in your journey of life, whether that be to uncover unknown strengths, work through hardships, make steps towards short-term or long-term goals, or to simply understand yourself and the world around you. I aim to make you feel safe, supported, and comfortable during your therapy journey, with the goal of forming a collaborative therapeutic relationship.
My modalities of therapy reflect the idea that you have the freedom and responsibility to control your life and make the choices necessary to discover your authentic self. Understanding your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in both a past and present sense is beneficial when working towards your future self. We as humans are complex and individualized, with many working parts that come together to make us whole. Examining these parts can help us achieve a deeper level of self-awareness. The lenses of these modalities have proven to be beneficial for people experiencing anxiety or depressive-like symptoms, stress, trauma, or the desire to grow and explore one’s identity. Always remember that you are the expert of your mind, in both therapy and life. Your comfort is of high importance to me, meaning I will bring presence, empathy, and open-mindedness during our sessions.
A little bit about me! I was born and raised in wonderful Ohio, where we say ‘pop’ instead of ‘soda’ and ‘ope’ instead of ‘excuse me’! I attended a small private college, Heidelberg University, in Tiffin, Ohio, where I played softball and earned my Bachelor of Science in both Psychology and Criminology. I then ventured out of state, landing in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where I attended Millersville University and earned my Master of Science in Clinical Psychology. I decided that 25 years up north was enough for me, and I found myself in the great state of Texas, where I earned my license and began my lifelong dream of practicing therapy. When I’m not in the office, I enjoy working out, watching softball, reading, painting, adventuring, and obsessing over the artwork of Vincent Van Gogh! Oh, and I have an orange cat named Turkey.
